MANGUM SPEAKING

"Nice People" was an original, weekly television program broadcast by WTBS Superstation from 1981 through 1983.  One of the first films produced by Eddie and Frank as their newly formed partnership, Thomasfilms, was a six-minute segment for this show that they called "Mangum Speaking."

The subject of the film is Autry Mangum, a vivacious, "young," ninety-one year old man from their hometown of Iuka, Mississippi, who walked several miles daily.  It features comments by several townsfolk who knew him well.  "Mangum Speaking" was broadcast on "Nice People" in 1981.

As the film now approaches the age of forty, it becomes a unique look back at a small Mississippi town in 1981.  Some things change...some don't.
