Where did jazz come from? Many a dissertation has been written on that one. One probable link is Louis Moreau Gottschalk who grew up in New Orleans. As a child, he heard the dancing feet and drum celebrations in Congo Square. His piano music of the mid-1800's captured what he heard and is said to later influenced ragtime and probably jazz. It's all a toss up, but there is something there. Eddie and Frank set up on a park bench in Congo Square and did Gottschalk's Bamboula.
