55. Mamie's Blues (New Orleans)
Jelly Roll Morton said that one of the first blues he ever heard was a tune he played and called Mamie's Blues by Mamie Desdoumes. Trumpet player Bunk Johnson said Mamie played a "pretty passable piano around the dance halls on Perdido Street." All those dance halls are long gone, mostly to make way for the City Hall complex. In the shade, and out of the rain, in a gazebo in Duncan Plaza across from City Hall on Perdido Street, Eddie and Frank did Mamie's Blues.
